EV Charging: Solar + BESS
Smart EV charging infrastructure powered by solar, grid and battery energy storage: reliable, cost-effective and scalable.
Powering the future of electric mobility
As EV adoption accelerates, charging operators face rising electricity costs, grid reliability issues, peak demand charges and pressure to source energy sustainably. Our integrated solution combines solar PV, a battery energy storage system (BESS) and grid power in one intelligent energy ecosystem, for commercial, fleet and public charging.
Integrated energy architecture
Solar generation
Clean energy generated on site by high-efficiency solar PV.
Battery storage (BESS)
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries store surplus solar and low-cost grid energy for peak periods.
Grid integration
Reliable grid connectivity keeps chargers running when solar is low or demand is high.
Energy management (EMS)
Dynamically routes energy between solar, battery, grid and chargers to cut cost and maximise renewables.
How the system works
By day, solar powers the chargers directly while charging the battery; surplus is stored for later. In the evening, during peak tariffs or grid outages, the BESS discharges to keep charging running, reducing reliance on expensive grid or diesel power. The EMS continuously monitors:
- Solar generation
- Battery state of charge
- Grid availability and tariffs
- EV charging demand
- Load-balancing requirements
Key benefits
- Lower charging costSolar and stored energy reduce electricity spend and improve station profitability.
- Peak demand managementBESS absorbs high-load periods to reduce demand charges.
- Energy independenceLess exposure to grid fluctuations and tariff rises.
- Grid stabilitySmart charging and storage ease stress on local networks.
- Business continuityCharging continues through outages and interruptions.
- Sustainable operationsSupports ESG, carbon-reduction and net-zero goals.

Economic & sustainability impact
Solar-generated electricity lowers the energy cost per charging session, stored energy can be deployed at high-demand times to raise utilisation, and integrated Solar + BESS improves project economics while locking in predictable long-term energy costs. A Solar + BESS facility substantially reduces carbon emissions and diesel generator use, and increases renewable consumption.
